2/24/18, by Tony Diver, The Telegraph News Huskies blamed for livestock attacks after Game of Thrones prompts wolf craze The shaggy coat and snarling teeth of the mythical direwolf are a familiar sight to many in Britain, after seven seasons of the hit show Game of Thrones brought the enormous beasts to UK screens. In a report released last week, rural insurer NFU Mutual pointed to a 67 per cent increase in farmers’ claims for livestock attacks over the last two years, costing the sector an estimated £1.6m. The report suggests that “large husky breeds” are involved in a lot of the most recent cases, many of which are attacks on new-born lambs and pregnant ewes.
